VIHANG NAIK: MAKING A POEM

A collection of poems to do with writing and reading poems, linked to a bit of homespun philosophizing and glimpses of the poet's past and various creative ventures. There are 25 poems in all. Here is a nicely-done image from MAKING A POEM:

To write a poem the pen
has to slide making a line

over a sheet. You see a
			snake uncoil.
There are other appealing images, as in MAKING OF A POET:
sometimes you feel the urge to fly
	with birds against the sun
Here is another from IN RAINS:
	A girl folds her
	newspaper into a boat

	and makes it flow
	over flooded waters.
To be honest, subsequent references in most pieces to writing a poem, or failing to do so, do not really seem to add so much to them and their images. Here is the final poem in the collection, A POET:
	in metropolis
	a poet

	hunting
	a butterfly

	ends up
	with a pen

	a blotted
	image

	a poem
