WILLIAM HART: ON CAT TIME

What a delightful and beautifully produced little book — hand-set and hand-printed on fine linen paper. These are particularly endearing poems (as the collection's title would suggest). Most of the haiku is not cat centered, but a lot of the poet's haiku moments happen when cats are on-the-prowl:

	   a dark bird
	skimming treetops
	wakes a streetlight

	long after sundown
	   one twitter
	   won't quit
Here is one that is feline full!
	   the tom asleep
	on the widow's porch
	   is losing his sun
Mr. Hart has a lovely, light and often humorous touch. Although a few of the poems are a mite weak, most take the reader straight to where they should go — with the author, back to that place that moment:
	atop the green hill
	     puddles
	   full of clouds
The collection is charmingly and quirkily illustrated with ink sketches by Ms. Jayasri Majumdar.
