Poesy #30

If you're a fan of American beat/underground poetry, then you'll find this of interest. This issue

is a tribute to the readings that took place at Café Babar in the Mission district of San Francisco from the mid-late 80s up through about 1994.
There are representative poems, interviews with Bruce Isaacson, Julia Vinograd and Joie Cook, photos, and reviews of NEW AMERICAN UNDERGROUND POETRY Vol.1: THE BARBARIANS OF SAN FRANCISCO — POETS FROM HELL, and David Lerner's selected poems, THE LAST FIVE MILES TO GRACE.

David Gollub sums up the chaos of life in A PAPER LIFE:

My life is mostly marking up and passing on
	avalanches of paper,
sheet by sheet. all by myself.
I'm afraid one white slide will swamp my desk
	and
	sweep me away someday.
Good to see what might otherwise be just a transient scene given permanence and celebration before all the practitioners are gone and everyone forgets.

reviewer: John Francis Haines.
