JOHN ELSBERG: A WEEK IN THE LAKE DISTRICT
John Elsberg spent a week in July 1997, hiking in the English Lake District.
This fan, printed on GilClear Fragments is a record of that week in what is described
as a modern English (one-line) version of the haiku formA few examples are arriving branches brush the sides of the bus strong local accent vibrant good mornings driving the small roads of Yorkshire a new landscapeWhilst some of the reflections may seem banal in isolation, it is easy to take a single leaf and reflect on it quietly. It would make a nice accompaniment on a walk in warm sunshine when one could use it as fan to give oneself both an intellectual and cooling breeze to combat the ardours of the climb.
