I'm a British poet, living at Gee Cross, Hyde on the edge of the Pennines with my wife, Christine. Our youngest son, Craig attended Arden College, Southport, for four years and now lives in a supported house in Hyde. Our other son, Ian spent a number of years at Redford Court, a rehabilitation centre in Liverpool, following brain injury due to a road-traffic accident some years ago. Penny, our Manchester terrier died in 2002, aged 13. I've been active on the Small Press Scene for more than 30 years, first editing Headland and then New Hope International. My poetry has been published in many countries and been translated into Croatian, German, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese & Romanian. I am an honorary member of the International Writers & Artists Association. I serve on the Council of the Yorkshire Dialect Society. I operate the mailing list Haiku Talk and am co-owner of Wordwizards an online writer's group. After nearly a quarter of a century working in insurance, I took early retirement. Now I keep myself busy designing web pages as a hobby. I have a personal blog, Ackworth born, gone West and also maintain Hyde Daily Photo. In 2006 I received the TED SLADE AWARD FOR SERVICE TO POETRY.
