clouds peak
clouds peak

     Gerald England

white banister rail
covered in black fingermarks
children at home

frosty October
bumble-bee lands on windscreen
stays two miles

branches of old trees
mark out the middle
of eroded paths

openly smoking
schoolgirls on their way home
pass the graveyard

in the pub carpark
waiting for the wind to drop
would-be balloonists
